The Contented Angler
"Where Flyfishing is still an honorable pastime"
We don't just teach flyfishing, we teach angling.
"Unless one can enjoy himself fishing with the fly, even when his efforts are
unrewarded, he loses much real pleasure.  More than half the intense
enjoyment of fly fishing is derived from the beautiful surroundings, the
satisfaction felt from being in the open air, the new lease of life secured
thereby, and the many pleasant recollections of all one has seen, heard,
and done."

You have fished trout streams all your life and you are fairly
confident about your casting, that is, until you go to the ocean or
any larger body of water and realize
you can't cast. Fly casting
and the teaching methods have changed considerably since
carbon fiber came on the scene. It would take about 10 minutes to
teach you how to toss a fly on any stream in Pa. It takes a little
longer and a commitment to practice to teach you fly casting the
proper way. We teach one experts' method and it is imperative
that we teach it properly. We don't want you practicing mistakes.
There is no charge for our instruction. When you are serious
about learning and ready to make the commitment we will be here.
We also specialize in teaching children.
Spey Casting - I have studied the rods and how to match the
proper line to the rod. Whether you are interested in spey,
skagit or scandi casting, we have the knowledge to have you
casting in no time. No one else in the area can show you how
these rods are supposed to feel.
We have a good selection of two handed rods and lines that you
can try before you buy.
When you leave here, you will know everything there is to know
about casting the two handed rod.
"Like our fly tying, we do not charge for fly casting lessons. Fly
Fishing is an honorable pastime not to be exploited by trying to
make a profit on every aspect of it. We are not so egotistic to
believe our instruction is worth hundreds of dollars. One place is
not thankful that you bought equipment from them, they also are
bold enough to charge you for instruction. We are not
comfortable doing what isn't fair"
We have taught many young people fly casting and fly tying
through their schools.  Competition is a good thing to learn,
however we feel that it should not be a part of fly fishing. We
like to believe that young people can go to the stream to
relax and enjoy the contemplative persons sport. We need
more quiet time in the world.

A lack of vitamin D is one of many reasons doctors are
prescibing going ourdoors for young people.  Fly fishing is
not only relaxing,  it's healthy
We are thankful to Penn State New Kensington for choosing our
Fly Fishing program for their "Kids in College" fly fishing camp.
It was an honor to be part of it!
Many feel they need the title, but many of the best
casters in the world don't need it nor do they want
it!  We teach the proper way to cast. I have beaten
all of the FFF casters that have had the courage to
show up here.
