The Contented Angler
Amy & Joe Gablick
01/08/08 - It was one of those rare days in January with temps in the 60's. A day that calls you to the
stream or the woods. It was nice that some tiger, rainbow, and brown trout decided to join us also.
About a week ago a streamer came to mind that I tied about 25 years ago. I decided to tie a few and try
them. I also believed that we fish streamers that are way too small for the fish we're pursuing. These
were large streamers and the normal black ghost didn't look too enticing after seeing this one in the
water. The perfect ending would be that the old streamer worked like a charm. Well, it was a perfect
ending and the streamer is now called the "25 year streamer" and it is still one of our best streamers. We
were sharing it and landed about 20 fish before we lost it. From now on, I intend to have plenty of these
on hand!

Eating the 25 year streamer.
The 25 year streamer. The long wing
gives more action and the trailer hook for
short strikes. Although, I believe the wire
interfered with some hookups, so I will be
going back to mono.
