The Contented Angler
"Where Flyfishing is still an honorable pastime"
We don't just teach flyfishing, we teach angling.
"Unless one can enjoy himself fishing with the fly, even when his efforts are
unrewarded, he loses much real pleasure.  More than half the intense
enjoyment of fly fishing is derived from the beautiful surroundings, the
satisfaction felt from being in the open air, the new lease of life secured
thereby, and the many pleasant recollections of all one has seen, heard,
and done."

You have fished trout streams all your life and you are fairly
confident about your casting, that is, until you go to the ocean or
any larger body of water and realize
you can't cast. Fly casting
and the teaching methods have changed considerably since
carbon fiber came on the scene. It would take about 10 minutes to
teach you how to toss a fly on any stream in Pa. It takes a little
longer and a commitment to practice to teach you fly casting the
proper way.  We don't want you practicing mistakes. There is no
charge for our instruction.
When you are serious about learning
and ready to make the commitment we will be here. We also
specialize in teaching children
Spey Casting - I have studied the rods and how to match the
proper line to the rod. Whether you are interested in spey,
skagit or scandi casting, we have the knowledge to have you
casting in no time. No one else in the area can show you how
these rods are supposed to feel.
We have a good selection of two handed rods and lines that you
can try before you buy.
When you leave here, you will know everything there is to know
about casting the two handed rod.

A lack of vitamin D is one of many reasons doctors are
prescibing going ourdoors for young people.  Fly fishing is
not only relaxing,  it's healthy
We are thankful to Penn State New Kensington for choosing our
Fly Fishing program for their "Kids in College" fly fishing camp.
It was an honor to be part of it!
Your brain tells you which muscles to use to make a cast. That is
until your muscles perform automatically.  This is why you can play
a piano and talk to someone at the same time. We learn to cast
consciously and we cast sub consciously.  This is called habit and
habits are hard to break.
It is easier to learn something than it is to
unlearn bad habits and we know for a fact that young people are
being taught the wrong way to cast.
This is the age of graphite and
casting is much different.  It is important that you learn to cast
Only one local group stands in the way of proper
instruction.  They are not hurting us,  they are
hurting the young people.  They should be
ashamed and they should know better!
"How much can a young person absorb in one casting lesson?
How much can they retain? No casting organization teaches this
but somehow they are automatic instructors. I had to find the
answer to these questions so I read books and I consulted
teachers and the results are the reason that our Fly Casting
program is so respected.  Being a casting instructor doesn't qualify
you to teach it!
